Although it’s still fairly early in the year, we have taken to the boards yet again for a “script in hand” performance at Fegg Hayes Hub. We were asked to devise a piece, based on some stories written by people in the Fegg Hayes community who were involved in a project run by Farrell Renowden for the Creative Ageing Development Agency. They had been discussing various things which could make them feel welcomed into a group, or to feel an outsider.
The time scale from getting the verbatim stories to putting the piece on stage was very short, but with Julia’s expertise and the sterling effort of the company, we managed to produce a 30 minute piece, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience. It was called “A Warm Welcome” and it mixed humour with a strong message that it’s the small things costing nothing that are the most effective in making a newcomer feel comfortable. Well done, everyone! Onwards and upwards!!!
